What Winning in this Role Looks Like?

  • Using your art of persuasion to motivate girls, their parents, other caring adults, and community partner organizations to join, volunteer, promote, and give their time and resources.
  • Developing prospects and leads for conversion to members.
  • Leveraging sales development techniques to reach membership goals.
  • Making cold contacts daily, through telephone, email, and video calls, and following up with warm leads.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with adult volunteers through phone calls, emails, video calls, and in-person meetings, including assisting with conflict resolution as the need arises.
  • Recruiting for and working with administrative teams of volunteers to serve Girl Scout families.
  • Training and being a cheerleader for volunteers on girl and volunteer recruitment.
  • Supporting recruitment efforts through girl program, including day camps and sampler troops (through video conference and in-person).
  • Understand the Girl Scout brand positioning and mission statement.

Major Accountabilities-Girl Programming

  1. Collaborates across council and cross-functionally to develop content branding plans, strategies, and curriculum as well as distribution planning that continually builds and advance the brand
  2. Participates in the development and evaluation of program goals and objectives
  3. Conducts movement-wide research into successful girl programming
  4. Delivers Girl Scout programming using GSUSA's proven delivery methods that meet national outcomes and advance the brand
  5. Ensures girl program strategies result in improved member and volunteer retention and experiences as measured via the movement's annual survey
  6. Other duties as assigned

  1. Demonstrate service excellence and positive interpersonal relations in dealing with others, including Board of Directors, staff, and community members, so that productivity and positive relations are maximized.
  2. Actively and consistently demonstrate the Girl Scouts norms by holding self-accountable results, holding the whole, assuming good intent, taking in ideas without judgment, embracing conflict and disagreement, constructively speaking the truth with a goal for mutual resolution, and staying focused on our mission.

Qualifications

The Skills You Need to Win

  • Bachelor's degree or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • The candidate must be ready and eager to learn
  • Passionate about the Girl Scout mission to build girls of Courage, Confidence, and Character who make the world a better place
  • Love for sales and making cold contacts
  • Hunger to achieve goals
  • Aptitude to hear the word "no" as an opportunity
  • A tenacious and resilient demeanor
  • Creativity, flexibility, and problem-solving abilities to work in new and changing environments
  • Self-motivated and efficient with strong time-management skills
  • Great written and oral communication skills, including public presentations (virtually and in-person)
  • Ability to relate well to both adults and children
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office, major social media platforms, and various video conferencing software; familiarity with Salesforce and Sandler techniques, a plus
  • Have access to an automobile for daily travel with a valid license, registration, and insurance
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours some nights and weekends to support different events required; travel locally with potential overnight stays required
  • Girl Scout experience is beneficial (but not critical)
  • Comfortable and able to converse in Spanish would be useful (but not a must)

Licensure/Membership Requirements:

  • All employees are required to maintain membership with Girl Scouts of the United States of America throughout the duration of their employment with GSGST.
