**Type of Requisition:** Regular**Clearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain:** None**Public Trust/Other Required:** NACI (T1)**Job Family:** Data Analysis**Overview and Essential Functions**The Mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veteran Benefits Administration (VBA) is to provide benefits to our Veterans that they have earned through military service. Under VBA, the Office of Business Integration (OBI) is tasked with improving, simplifying and accelerating delivery of benefits to our Veterans. In meeting these goals, OBI strives to acquire managed service solutions that are effective and use efficient Information Technology (IT) to achieve desired VBA results. The successful Senior Data Analyst will serve as the link between business outcomes and the tactical data being ingested, collected and processed. In this capacity, you will help discover data patterns and provide critical data analysis to OBI for trend analysis, auditing, and general transactional research. Your contributions and data analysis skills will be vital to providing a positive, high quality benefits delivery to our nation's veterans.**Responsibilities** :The **Senior Data Analyst** will research multiple data sources, navigate logical data relationships, and generate resulting data intermediate data pools using a combination of tools and techniques. Additional analysis will be required to prepare and present usable data metrics internally and to VBA OBI. The Senior Data Analyst will be expected to prepare dynamic reports, dashboards, scorecards, and trend analysis that can be easily interrupted by key stakeholders. These outcomes may trigger and drive process improvements into the services delivery for VBA OBI.+ Delivering polished business reporting, using spreadsheets, charts, dashboards and presentations, to senior management and the client+ Developing and disseminating standard and ad hoc data reports accurately and in a timely manner to stakeholders+ Coordinating with various team members and business partners to identify opportunities for enhanced program measurement, reporting and continuous improvement of the program offerings+ Help conduct program metrics results reviews with leadership, providing insight about trends, opportunities and/or gaps based on analysis of key metrics+ Experience with data extraction, manipulation, and reporting, creating views, and writing queries+ Ability to work with data structures and metadata+ Experience with trend analysis and other data analytic techniques to help stakeholders gain insight from the data+ Work with program team to gain a better sense of the current shortcomings in reporting and devise solutions to enhance reporting and analytics+ Experience with effective practices for data cleaning, manipulation, and visualization+ Focus on ensuring data integrity, quality, and consistency in all data products; ability to analyze data integrity issues and collaborate with stakeholders to assist in process improvements+ Tableau Desktop - Able to Create/Modify Data sources and publish them to Tableau server+ Tableau Desktop - Experience with Data source filters, Calculated fields, Row level security etc.**Required/minimum qualifications** :+ Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of information technology experience, or 8+ years of information technology experience without a degree+ Minimum of 4+ years of data mining, reporting, and analysis experience+ Must have 2+ years of MS Office Suite (Word, PPT, Excel); for example, preparing reports for customer distribution+ Must have experience using a SQL or non-SQL database toolset+ 2+ years Tableau experience creating dashboards and visualizations+ Ability to analyze the data set/business requirements and provide recommendations for best data visualizations in Tableau+ Must be able to obtain a Public Trust**Desired Skills:**+ Strong verbal and written communication skills+ Ability to build consensus with others and work independently to complete tasks on-time+ Ability to work in a complex and changing environment; must be self-motivated+ Previous Department of Veteran Affairs experience+ Experience with JAVA/Grails and SQL report buildingThis position requires being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by January 18, 2022 or the start date, if after January 18.
