Job Description:
Job/Position DescriptionMaintenance Specialist IAre you ready to

Health and Specialty Care System (HSCS) may be just the place for
you! The HSCS is comprised of nine psychiatric hospitals located
throughout the state, and one youth residential psychiatric center
in Waco. The HSCS is a hub of excellence for forensic mental health
and complex psychiatric care, with all facilities accredited by The
Joint Commission. The hospitals provide state-of-the-art treatment
that is recovery-oriented and science-based. Whether in a
direct-care or support role, your contribution will make a
difference in the life of a Texan.Performs routine work in (2) two
or more maintenance building construction trades. Work involves
maintaining and repairing buildings, stationary equipment and
motorized equipment. Work from simple drawings, blue prints or
schematics. Work involves carpentry, plumbing, sanitation systems.
Two (2) years experience in one trade preferred. Work requires
heavy physical activity. Work is performed independently and under
the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance
Supervisor I. Must have the ability to follow oral or written
instructions. Work requires driving to other areas as needed. Other
duties may be assigned as necessary. Must have a valid Texas
Driverand#146;s license with less then 10 points against record as
per TDHSH guidelines. Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a
regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule
or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or
overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other
duties as assigned.Has responsibility of protecting state property
from pilferage, theft, or man made destruction.Prepares work orders
through the CAFM program and records time and material.Assists the
Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor I in developing
better and more economical ways of performing jobs.Conduct
inspections of buildings, equipment and grounds for security and
needed repairs.Perform related work as assigned.Employs effective
techniques in the process of completing job dutiesOther duties as
assigned include but are not limited to actively participating
and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyand#146;s
obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of
Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an
alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Registrations,
Licensure Requirements or CertificationsMust possess valid Texas
driverand#146;s license or obtain it no later than 90 days after
hire date. Applicants with an out-of-state driverand#146;s license
must provide an original certified driving record from the state of
driving licensure. Eligible driving record required based on HHSC
Fleet Management policy. Knowledge Skills AbilitiesMust be able to
understand and interpret policies and procedures clearly and
accurately.Must be knowledgeable of applicable codes, standards,
and regulations including Life Safety Codes, NFPA, Elimination of
Architectural Barriers, Americans with Disabilities Act, National
Electric Codes and State of Texas HVAC Codes.Must be knowledgeable
of the policies and procedures pertaining to ICF/MR , JCAHO,
Infection Control and departmental standards.Have the ability and
knowledge to read simple drawing blue prints, or schematics, follow
oral or written instructions.M
