SUMMARY: The Grounds Maintenance/Gate Guard is responsible for the upkeep of the external premises maintaining high standards according with VICS Food Safety Quality Programs of Re-Pack Manufacturing. This includes the front and back areas of the premises and the outer fence line. Duties include mowing, weed eating, spraying weeds, trash pickup, backup for vacation and time off for Gate Guards and other duties as assigned such as paint repairs, fixing pallets, etc. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND BASIC DUTIES: Keep grass Mowed daily. Use Weed eater for weeds on fence line and exterior of fence line. Spray weeds to exterminate growth. Daily pick up exterior trash debris in parking areas and along fence line. Take to the dumpster. Pick up trash and smoking butts at Picnic/Smoking area. Report any incident, accident, or potential hazards to supervisor/management. Reports to the Plant Manager throughout the day for other duties as assigned. Gate Guard backup Vacation, Days off. Greet clients / employees / visitors. Check ID card, license plate number and log them correctly, with the arrival and departure hours for every employee/ temp employee/ visitor/ client, every time they arrive or depart. PICK-UP / DROP-OFF: Log in all semi's, regular trucks, cargo vans, vans, cars, according to their license plate, truck and/or trailer #, company name, arrival, and departure hours. Must have paperwork picking up and paperwork exiting. Verify trucks have proper documentation with matching seal prior to exiting premises if leaving with a loaded truck. Truck drivers are not allowed to stay overnight. Truck drivers are not to leave the trailer here unattended. Call Office for all Customers, Vendors, Visitors for approval to enter the company's premises. Visually Patrol premises and parking lots for breach of Gate or fence line. Pro-actively alert management of illegal activities, hazards, suspicion of dangers to Management. Complete all logs & reports completely & legibly in English. QUALIFICATIONS: Work experience in related position lawn care, grounds keeper, landscaping upkeep. Gate Guard Attendant. FORKLIFT experience a plus. Must be able to follow job requirements and procedures. Must be able to read, write and count in English and/or Spanish. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be standing for long periods of time. Ability to move around and use all extremities. Must be able to push and pull. Must be able to reach above the shoulders. Must be able to hear well. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. +/- varies. Must be able to bend and kneel repeatedly. Must be able to climb stairs. Must be able to work at temperatures ranging from 0 degrees to normal daily temperatures. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exterior outside ambient air temperature, sunny, cloudy, heat, rain. Interior Other Duties as Assigned Cold and damp (Freezer: - 10 degrees Fahrenheit, Loading Dock: 40 degrees Fahrenheit, Re-pack: 36 degrees Fahrenheit, Dry warehouse. Interior Warehouse noise. Interior working with and/or around machines with moving parts and objects. Interior wear gloves, hair net, hard hat as required. Interior machine vibrations. Interior working closely with employees.
